: I've heard that Linoleum has antiseptic properties - Is this true?
The raw materials in genuine linoleum include linseed oil, cork, wood flour, natural tree rosins, dry piments, and jute which is usually the backing material. Several manufacturers claim that their products are bacteriostatic. Deutsche Linoleum Werke A.G.(DLW) of Germany had their linoleum tested by Wilhelm University in Munster, Westphalia. The results indicated that the linoleum inhibited the growth of Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Staphylococcus aureus. Forbo, Inc. USA claims a "self sanitizing quality in the form of a bactericidal effect." It is probably the cork and the tree rosins that give linolem this property. But this is probably more than you needed to know. Yes?
