Hello,
I am about to install a new laminate flooring in our downstairs. We do not have a basement, and are thus installing on a concrete slab. A hardwood floor exists there now, but I am removing it. It was installed by our builder and is of terrible quality, and after just 2 years..looks like crap.
What I am concerned about is that I believe the existing hardwood is somewhat thicker than the future laminate. This leaves me with some questions as to what to do with the molding. I first thought I could remove the quarter round, sand/repaint the baseboard, and then re-attach the quarter round lower.. but then I realized I would still have problems with doorway trim.
Any solutions? Any way to make the floor rise up to the trim? What if I put a double layer of the underlayment?
any help is greatly appreciated.
