: : I'll give it a shot to help you better. The mention of "house being warm" says alot and I'm assuming we're speaking of the heating being ON...sounds like ordinary shrinkage. I'm not crazy about flake board(OSB...etc)..who is using this stuff? I've asked that before somewhere as I RARELY see it..but being in hurricane country(Fla) I guess that answers my question.
: : Screws are a good answer. In the framing phase they should have at least tried using ring shank nails and liquid nail. I've always suggested if you can access the subfloor from underneath use cedar shims between the joists and the flake board. But then I've never tried it...sure with a sturdy CDX plywood. Maybe you have alternating joist configurations as well, which are rubbing against one another..
: : Can anybody else help Kevin?
: Ken,
: Up here in michigan OSB board is used a lot in new homes...I'm not too crazy about it either.
: Kevin, try just screwing the floor down instead of nailing it, if that doesn't work something is seriously wrong and you may want have it inspected by a neutal party either way. Don't wait until your warrenty expires!!!

Ken,
Lee here, I also see a lot of osb subfloors, and, many times the nails are not holding it down, now, I have also seen this in houses, last one, the gas logs are on 24 hours a day (house in NC mountains), humidity was 30%, but, the osb issue seems to be an on going problem, nails just do not hold in it, and, there is movement, deflection, will screws really do any better?
