There should be a few illustrations with the directions. Personally I don't use the 30 1/4" measurement, more like 30 3/8" as few walls are straight and I always find myself ripping the last board to fit. I'm assuming you're glueing this down?
Place the starters on the edge of the chalk line in the adhesive then cut some temporary "backer boards" to be placed on the glueless side of the chalk line, attach them to the subfloor to prevent movement when installing the area to the wall.
No need to be concerened about vertical expansion areas.
