Press Release : Estimating Software Offers Unique Simplicity

FloorCoveringSoft.com to Feature FloorEstimate Pro at Surfaces 2003

January 27, 2003 (Las Vegas, NV) - FloorCoveringSoft.com will feature the company's latest version of FloorEstimate Pro at Surfaces 2003. In addition to drag-and-drop modeling of floor areas, graphical cut layout, what-if analysis on-the-fly, job cost estimator and project search functions, new features include measurement and display in feet and inches, material type selection, and diagonal cuts.

The software's unique simplicity allows users from various segments of the flooring trade - retailers, workrooms, installers, sales reps, estimators, contractors - to simply drag and drop to create a floor plan. FloorEstimate Pro instantly calculates the linear length, material yardage, roll cuts and labor costs associated with the job. "The program is unique in its simplicity compared to other feature-intensive programs that are challenging to most people in the industry", said Charlie Caparala, a training consultant for Mohawk Industries.

Retailers can also integrate their store inventory software with FloorEstimate Pro. Jill Feng, a sales rep with Carpet King in Los Angeles who has been using the program for about 3 months remarked, "Since then, I never had any material short which normally costs me $50-$100 per incident, and even worse: customer headaches." Herbert, another sales rep at Carpet King, added, "Also, being able to give the customer a quote right on the job site will increase the chance of closing the sale and picking up a check by fifty percent."

More improvements are in the works for the software too. "We will continue making the product simpler to use, and will make it work on hand held devices like Tablet PC and Pocket PC later this year", said Dr. Steven Wang, president of InfoAppliance Inc., developer of the software.

Currently FloorEstimate Pro is sold directly from its web site at www.FloorCoveringSoft.com and through its partners who have integrated their store management software with the estimator. The program is regularly priced at $799 per license(see note below).

About the Company:

InfoAppliance Inc. was founded in 2001 by a team of software experts and floor covering professionals headed by Dr. Wang. FloorEstimate Pro was initially written for their internal use and then released commercially in mid 2002.

Press Release: New China Compulsory Certification System Effective May 1, 2003

April 17, 2003 (Kneeland, CA and Beijing, China) &endash; The China Compulsory Certification (CCC) is a new Safety and Quality Mark required for many products sold in China. It is the result of the recent integration of China's two compulsory inspection systems - one to list contents of products for import/export and the other for quality control - into a single procedure. The new CCC Mark replaces the two old Marks, CCIB and CCEE, used in the previous inspection systems.

The new system was enacted on May 1, 2002 and becomes effective May 1, 2003*. The CCC Mark is administered by the Chinese government agency Certification and Accreditation Administration (CNCA). The China Quality Certification Center (CQC) was authorized by CNCA to process CCC Mark applications. Many U.S. and other foreign exporters in 132 product categories will be impacted. Products not meeting CCC requirements may be held by Chinese customs and could be subject to other penalties.

There are19 product groups that require CCC Marks: Electrical Wires and Cables (5 categories), Switches for Circuits, Installation Protective and Connection Devices (6 categories), Low-voltage Electrical Apparatus (9 categories), Small Power Motors (1 category), Electric Tools (16 categories), Welding Machines (15 categories), Household and Similar Electrical Appliances (18 categories), Audio and Video Apparatus (16 categories), Information Technology Equipment (IT) (12 categories), Lighting apparatus (2 categories), Telecommunication Terminal Equipment (9 categories), Motor Vehicles and Safety Parts (4 categories), Motor Vehicle Tires (3 categories),  Safety Glasses (3 categories), Agricultural Machinery (1 category), Latex Products (1 category), Medical Devices (7 categories), Fire Fighting Equipment (3 categories), and Detectors for Intruder Alarm Systems (1 category).

The 16 categories of the Electric Tools group subject to the new China Compulsory Certification (CCC) Mark are: drills (including impact drills), screwdrivers and impact wrenches, electric grinders, sanders, circular saws, electric hammers (electric pickax), spray guns for nonflammable liquids, electric scissors (electric scissors for double-edged blades, electric impact scissors), electric tapping machines, reciprocating saws (jig saw and sabre saws), internal concrete vibrators, electric chain saws, electric planers, electric hedge trimmers and electric grass shears, electric routers and edge trimmers, electric stone cutters (including marble cutters).

There is a five-step CCC Mark application process:

1. Submission of an application and supporting materials.
2. Type Testing - A CNCA designated test laboratory in China will test product samples.
3. Factory Inspection - CQC will send representatives to inspect the manufacturing facilities.
4. Evaluation of certification results followed by approval or retesting.
5. Follow-up Factory Inspection - Manufacturing facilities will be re-inspected by Chinese officials every 12-18 months.

Dave Spreen, president of Dave Spreen's Flooring Resources was alerted to the new Chinese certification requirements during the Floor Coverings in Beijing Exhibition last September. He consulted with Xiao Hui, Partner Attorney of the Beijing Yizhong Law Firm, to provide China Compulsory Certification (CCC) Mark application services for US and foreign clients. Xiao remarked, "The regulations are new and the process can take time, but since the China Quality Certification Center is within walking distance of our office and we have completed a number of applications, we have learned how to streamline the application process."

Recently returning from exhibiting at the Chinafloor - Domotex/Asia show in Shanghai in March, Spreen observed, "I was amazed at how many of those manufacturing and handling products potentially subject to the new CCC Mark were unaware of the new regulations and looming May 1 deadline*. Others thought their European EC Mark will suffice or a compliance extension will be granted &endash; pretty risky strategy if your business has appreciable sales in China."

Due to their joint expertise, assisting US and foreign manufacturers through the CCC Mark application process is another service Xiao and the Yizhong Law Firm offer to clients in partnership with their US agent Dave Spreen. The firm strives to provide services to complete the entire process in a timely, economical fashion to ensure no disruption of their client's business. This is especially crucial for OEMs to fulfill their contracts with manufactures without delays.

For more information, contact Dave Spreen by telephone at 707-445-2244 in the US (email dspreen@davespreen.com) or Xiao Hui in China (email xiaohui@lawyer.org.cn).

--------------

* Update March 23, 2003: China's State General Administration of Quality Supervision and Inspection and Quarantine (AQSIQ) and Certification and Accreditation Administration (CNCA) announced the postponement of the mandatory enforcement date of the CCC Mark from May 1, 2003 to August 1, 2003.

Press Release : Beijing Floor Show Moves Forward; Adds Awards, Forums.

November 10, 2003 (Kneeland, CA) &endash; Despite the uncertainties created by SARS earlier this year, the 4th China International Floor Coverings & Carpet Fair (Floor Coverings 2003) attracted support from both old and new exhibitors during the September 1-4, 2003 show at the China International Exhibition Center in Beijing.

Co-organized by the Chinese Flooring Committee (CFC) and CIEC Exhibition Co., Ltd, Floor Coverings 2003 drew 150 exhibitors from China, France, Germany, Japan, Korea, Sweden, the USA, Malaysia, Mongolia and Hong Kong. The 4-day event attracted over 12,000 domestic and overseas trade visitors to see a wide range of flooring products displayed in the 100,000 sq. ft. exhibition hall.

For the first time this year, the organizing committee awarded one golden prize, two silver prizes, and three bronze prizes to exhibitors for new product development, floor installation and brand image. The Golden Prize winners for Floor Coverings 2003 were: New Product Development - Yihua Wood Industry Co., Ltd; Floor Installation - Power Dekor Co., Ltd; Brand Image - Power Dekor Co., Ltd.

To bring more benefits to exhibitors, the organizing committee facilitated forums on tender and bidding laws in China. Conforming to international standards, an increasing number of projects are being carried out via the tender process. Government purchasing offices and enterprises will be on hand to accept tender and bid submissions during the Floor Coverings 2004 exhibition, a rather unique attraction for foreign exhibitors.

The fifth annual China International Floor Coverings and Carpet Fair will be held September 27-30, 2004 at the China International Exhibition Center in Beijing. A 10% discount is being offered to exhibitors registering by March 31, 2004. For more information, contact CIEC's US agent Dave Spreen by phone 707-445-2244, fax 707-445-1024, or email mail@davespreen.com. Exhibition websites can be found at http://floor.ciec-exhibition.com.cn and http://www.davespreen.com/china/fc2002.
